Who did I shoot?

Suren Barry, Doctor of Music in Piano Performance student at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, Montréal.

Why did we shoot?

Suren is friends with Tim Ledger, whose promo shots I did and who highly recommended me. Check out Tim’s website to see the photos we did: https://www.timothymledger.com

Where did we shoot?

When I came back to Montréal, I racked my brain to find a place with enough interesting architecture and light to match what I saw in Europe. Place des Arts ended up being our choice, for its modern architecture.

Useful to know

  • Wardrobe choice: no matter whether you’re going for formal or casual, you always want to look sharp for this kind of shoot. No baggy sweaters or wrinkly shirts. Whatever you wear, make sure it fits you like a glove. Suren brought three different outfit choices that day, but in his case, the classic suit made him look sharp as hell.

  • Some people look more natural when they smile. Some have a beautiful melancholic expression. The key is to go along with what is natural for yourself. Suren has a great melancholic look.

Fun Facts

  • Suren is a night owl, yet I made him show up at 8am for a shoot. That’s not fun, just a fact. The light was worth it though.

  • People sometimes confuse him with Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau.

Until next time,
